A super slow-motion capture of the animation when using mission control on OSX Lion version 10.8.2.
This experiment was done using a MacBook Retina 2012 machine, with a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 CPU and 16GB of RAM. Although this is not a scientific test it shows the performance difference quite well.

Capturing was done with a Canon SX40 SX digital camera, in 'movie sport' mode set at 640x480 @ 120 fps.
