Compiling netdiscover on Mac OSX Mountain Lion
Download article as PDF
By Maurice on November 6, 2012 popularity:
For discovering network devices, even devices configured with an IP address outside the subnet, there is a great open source tool: net discover.
The tool supports multiple platforms and it just compiles on OSX Mountain Lion. You'll need to have libnet installed though.

The steps are outlined on this site.

I tried to use the linnet provided by Mac Ports, but don't bother with it. It installs in /opt/local and cannot be found by the netdiscover configure tool.
